Have you written a memoir or thought of writing a memoir? Have you considered writing magazine-length personal stories? Would you like to pitch your idea to an agent or editor? If the answer to any of these questions is “yes,” then SouthWest Writers has a conference for you.

On Saturday, August 16, an outstanding line-up of speakers will gather for THE MEMOIR CONFERENCE. Click here for details about the speakers and their presentations.

Conference registration includes all of the presentations, a box lunch, refreshments and the possibility of a 10-minute pitch session.

Pitch sessions will be available with Deborah Herman (for any variety of memoir), Tim McKee (for magazine-length personal essays) and Luther Wilson (for memoirs with a Western connection, preferably New Mexico or the Southwest). Pitch sessions will be assigned on a first-come first-served basis. Due to the limited number available, we cannot guarantee that everyone will get a session. Only one pitch session per person. Early registration will increase your chance of getting the pitch session of your choice.

If you need a hotel, there are two within walking distance: Holiday Inn Express, 5401 Alameda NE, Albuquerque (505-797-2291) and Ramada Limited, 5601 Alameda NE, Albuquerque (505-858-3297).

Preregistration for the conference is required. No walk-in registrations. Limited spaces available.
