The MARTY AWARDS for Excellence in Journalism Contest is open to high school students living in New Mexico and enrolled in a New Mexico high school, either public or private, during the 2005-2006 academic year. Students may submit their own work, or teachers may choose to submit a student's work. Entries in the Marty Awards Contest must have been published, or be scheduled for publication, in the student's school newspaper or newsletter during the 2005-2006 academic year.

Entries must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2006. Entries postmarked after the deadline will be returned unopened.
